About Mary Boon Design

More than anything else Mary Boon has celebrated life with all the blessings from nature and her parental stimulation to tackle life with creativity. Her creative and biologist mother nurtured her with music, the fine arts and a love for cooking.

Her passion for painting started in her early childhood. Following junior college her first professional experience was in fashion, and after a one year stay in California this was followed by a training in biological research. Her interest in investigating the secrets of nature was set aside by her desire to explore nature, in paint.

Mary's passion for dining and especially the entourage around dining, was the start of a new career. Her great wish was to design her own table, set with her own plates, glasses and candleholders; it may seem no surprise that Mary Boon started her own company. In 1996 she started Mary Boon Design, translating the decorative wishes of customers to unique designs with a personal touch.

Philosophy

MBD offers "made to measure" products. She has 2 approaches to serve her clientele. If the customer wants a unique piece, for instance a table or a cupboard, a proposal is prepared and if approved, production will be executed in artisan hands, either by herself or in the hands of close partners. If the client has a distinct program of wishes for a larger production, for instance tableware, a proposal is made regarding design, materials, quantities, prices, terms of delivery, shipment and the like. Productions are contracted out to established factories under close supervision of MBD. MBD-designs and products always carry the typical "signature" of the company. It may seem clear that MBD offers tailormade as well as customized products. The porcelain and glassware from Mary Boon Design found its way to many customers all over the world. Her products appeal to a "wide public" and are affordable.
